He looked at ways to affect his biology and came up with the idea of a morning coffee blended with fat. He claims it helps you lose weight, reduce your cancer risk and boost brainpower.
The creator claims that the medium-chain triglycerides in the fat aid weight loss and regulate cholesterol. But no studies have been done to support his findings and critics claim that bulletproof coffee can upset your gut. Coffee does not constitute a balanced meal. If you have high stress levels, coffee and exercise can spike your cortisol levels further and make weight loss harder. So, proceed with caution.
Porridge has been around for a long time. The scots are famous for eating it and have been consuming it since the middle ages. Add some protein powder and nut butter to increase the protein and healthy fats.
Porridge is a nutritional powerhouse. It is high in fibre which can help lower your cholesterol. There is around 8g protein per 50g of porridge oats so while its carb and fibre heavy it also contains a lot of protein. Porridge is slow-release meaning its great for maintaining energy levels throughout the morning. Its also perfect for reducing cravings.
An acai bowl is a thick blended smoothie of acai berries topped with nuts, seeds sand fruits. No-one knows the true health benefits of acai berries and whether they are any healthier than other berries. But there’s no doubting the health benefits of fruit, nuts and seeds but be wary of the sugar hit. Opt for low sugar fruits to avoid the sugar high and swap out for some leafy greens if possible.
Granola if made properly is a nutritional powerhouse when packed with nuts, dried fruits and seeds. With the nutrient-filled ingredients of dried fruits and healthy fats and the cholesterol reducing oats feels indulgent and delicious.
Ensure your granola contains an array of whole grains and avoid sugar. To sweeten the breakfast tr adding a sprinkle of cinnamon. Eat it on top of vegan yogurt to get that protein hit. Don’t overdo it – 30-40g of granola is sufficient.
